DNS Executive Committee (2025-2027)
President
Rabi Khanal

Namaste DNS Community,
I am Robby (Rabi) Khanal. I have lived in the USA since 1975 and in Delaware since 1980. I live in Bear, Delaware, with my lovely wife. I have two children, both born in Delaware, and three cute grandkids. Professionally, I work in the Information Technology/Data Management field.
Although I have lived in the USA for 50 years, I love our Nepali culture and heritage. I’m dedicated to the Nepali tradition and values. In 2012, I founded the Delaware Nepali Samaj (DNS) organization in Delaware. The initial primary goal of this organization was to engage our Nepali community in formal Nepali functions and events. The goals have, of course, expanded since then. I am currently honored to serve as the first elected President of DNS. I am committed to DNS’s goals and objectives and will fully contribute my time and resources to this organization.

I’ve been dedicated to DNS, organizing events and contributing to our community ever since I came to know about DNS back in 2011. I’m eagerly looking froward for the future of DNS and the opportunities ahead.
Treasurer
Dr. Santosh Kandel
Namaste DNS community and well-wishers! I am Dr. Santosh Kadel, the coordinator for DNS committee on Events, Communication and Public Relations. Arriving in this land of opportunity over two decades ago as a teenager from Kathmandu, I have strived to find a balance between Western lifestyle, open-mindedness, democracy, and Eastern morals, culture and values. Like many other immigrants, I have been successful in the pursuit and fulfillment of the American dream. However, in this new phase of life, I have been longing to find a caring, affectionate and harmonious community that I can belong to. My involvement in DNS is purely driven by the deep desire to help create such a community. Academically, I am considered a trailblazer in Clinical Laboratory Sciences since I am the third person in the US to obtain a doctorate degree in the field which employs over 400,000 professionals. I am an actively involved and nationally recognized expert in the field of laboratory medicine. Professionally, I oversee the clinical, technical and scientific aspects of laboratories at Christiana Care systemwide and also serve as the medical director of high complexity clinical laboratories. I am an avid traveler and food enthusiast living in Bear, Delaware with my wife and two daughters.

Professional Development and Public Relations
Prerana Khatiwada
I was born in a small town in the Terai region of Nepal, where my journey began in the embrace of love, warmth, and the unwavering support of my parents. As a child, I was endlessly curious, always eager to learn, to explore, to understand the world around me. My undergraduate years in Nepal were filled with laughter, discovery, and cherished moments with family. Before moving to the U.S. for graduate studies, I spent two years working in the IT industry, specializing in data warehousing and business intelligence. Now, as a fourth-year Ph.D. student in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) at the University of Delaware, I am leading the Community Comms Project at Sensify Lab under Prof. Matthew Mauriello. My research focuses on creating privacy-preserving, user-friendly interventions that help people navigate the digital world with more awareness and confidence. Outside of my academic journey, I find joy in life’s little moments. Cooking, traveling, photography, and sketching allow me to slow down and embrace creativity in a different way. DNS has always been my second home, a place where I have met so many exceptional individuals who have become like family to me. Serving DNS in the past year has been an incredibly fulfilling experience, and I feel truly blessed to be part of this wonderful community. Not everyone gets the chance to be surrounded by such a supportive and inspiring group of people, and for that, I am deeply grateful. This society has given me so much, and I would love to give back in any way I can. Contributing to this community is not just a responsibility but a heartfelt commitment because DNS has shaped me in ways I will always cherish.

Hum Lal Bhandari
Namaste!
I am Hum Lal Bhandari, and I proudly call Bear, Delaware my home. I am grateful to be a part of the vibrant Nepali community in the United States, which has enriched my life in countless ways. My roots trace back to the picturesque district of Gulmi, Nepal, where I spent my formative years.
My journey began in 1999 when I left Nepal to pursue educational and career opportunities in India. I lived there until 2005 before embarking on a new adventure in Singapore, where I had the pleasure of living and working from 2005 to 2011. In 2011, I took a significant step by moving to the United States, first settling in the sunny state of Florida until 2014. My path then led me to Las Vegas, Nevada, for two exciting years, followed by a stint in Elkton, Maryland, from 2016 to 2019. Finally, in 2019, I found my permanent home in Delaware.
I am truly blessed to share my life with my loving family, including my wonderful wife, Rita, and our two beautiful children, Angeela and Agream, both of whom were born in Florida. My professional journey has been rooted in the hospitality industry, where I have worked passionately since my early days in India, continuing through my time in Singapore and now here in the USA.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the members of DNS for nominating me for the Chairperson position for Events and Cultural Activities. As an engaged member of our Delaware community, I am committed to dedicating my time and energy to ensure our events and cultural programs are successful and enjoyable for everyone. I eagerly look forward to collaborating with each of you to create a positive impact in our community.

Dinesh Neupane

Namaskar! I am Dinesh Neupane, a public servant to Delawareans who responds to the reliability of critical business systems. My other role includes volunteering as a coach for the First Lego Explore team at Olive B Loss Elementary School. I am delighted to add measurable value to the community as it evolves with broader roles. I was born in Gyaneshwar, Kathmandu, and graduated from Tribhuvan University. My professional journey began in 1995 as a BASIC instructor in a high school in Bhaktapur (my ancestral hometown). This pivotal period made me consider upskilling and moving to the US in 1998 (along with decamp peer pressure from colleagues) to pursue a second bachelor’s in computer science from the University of Texas System. Back then, higher education institutions in Nepal did not offer computer science/engineering degrees. I moved from Tempe, Arizona, to Delaware to pursue a position as a Middleware Systems Engineer and have been residing there since 2006. I live in Newark with my better half, Ujjwala, and my son, Divyesh.
